KellyGram – A Historic Fourth of July on the South Carolina Coast

As we know, this weekend marks the 250th anniversary of our nation’s birth. While every Fourth of July is special, this year is especially significant as we celebrate the semiquincentennial!

Many events are planned in my two places of residence, Columbia and Myrtle Beach, and this year we’ll be celebrating on the coast. Firework displays are scheduled at several locations, including Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach, the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, and the Cherry Grove Pier.

One of my favorite traditions is the annual flyover, which begins at 1:00 p.m. in Cherry Grove and continues south to the Georgia state line. It features fighter jets, antique aircrafts, and numerous pilots who volunteer to participate. It’s always an impressive sight. I plan to watch the flyover from my balcony in Brighton Tower at Kingston Plantation.

Enjoy the celebration, and if you’re so inclined, take a moment to offer a prayer of thanks for the privilege of living in this great country. Despite our challenges, we have so much to be grateful for. And let us also pray that God will continue to watch over and bless the United States of America.

Have a wonderful holiday!

We’re here for the people of South Carolina!

Have a great rest of the week and weekend!
